Where is Key Colony Beach?

Key Colony Beach is located oceanside off of the Overseas Highway, the main route between Miami and Key West. At mile marker 53, about 100 miles south of Miami, you will be in the heart of the Middle Keys. Turn off the main road onto the small causeway that links Key Colony Beach with Marathon. Be sure to watch your speed as you are now officially on “Island Time”.

Hang out at the Cabana Club

The Cabana Club is a private swim club located just a few blocks from Villa Bella in the Keys. When you stay at Villa Bella, you and your traveling companions are welcome to use the facilities as part of your rental. The Cabana club features a large zero-entry pool with a view to the ocean, plus access to one of the few sandy beaches in the Keys. The Cabana Club Tropical Bar and Lounge is a great place to grab an umbrella drink while you enjoy the pool and beach. And if you’re feeling like you could use a snack, the Beach Shop serves up ice cream, hot dogs, popcorn, pretzels and more to tide the group over until it’s time for a meal.

Snorkel at Coffins Patch

If you’ve always wanted to try snorkeling, this is the place! Located four nautical miles from Key Colony Beach, Coffins Patch offers some of the best snorkeling in the Middle Keys. You could see tangs, jacks, stingrays, nurse sharks, grouper, lobster, butterfly fish, moray eels, and more. In addition, you will be able to spot at least 3 different types of coral. It’s an ideal spot for beginners at the depths range on average from 3 to 10 feet (with some deeper sections).

Play a round of golf

The Key Colony Beach Golf Course is a perfect spot for golfers of all abilities to swing the sticks. This 9-hole, par-3 course is within easy walking distance from Villa Bella. And since you really only need your putter, wedge, and 9-iron, you don’t even need to pack the entire set of clubs to enjoy time on the links.

An easy stroll from Villa Bella is this public park located on the Atlantic Ocean. As it’s name suggests, it’s the spot in Key Colony Beach to watch the sunset. But the park is a great spot whatever time of day as it offers picnic areas, restrooms, showers as well as a walking path dotted with benches so you can relax and enjoy the stunning view.

Go shopping and grab a coffee or a drink

A variety of small boutiques are sprinkled throughout Key Colony as well as coffee shops and lounges. You could spend a lazy day checking out the various trinkets, clothes, and other wares for sale. And when all that shopping works up a thirst, stop into the local coffee shops or lounges. But if you need more shop til you drop action, the town of Marathon just over the short bridge connects you to a wide variety of shopping and dining options.

Rent a bike or a kayak

Right in Key Colony Beach, you can find vendors that will rent you kayak or bicycle to explore this slice of Keys heaven without a car. Get up close and personal with marine life in a kayak or relive your childhood on 2 wheels. The family friend neighborhoods allow for easy biking without the worries of speeding cars zooming by.
